- Ultra Studio 3G Recorder Driver 12.0 Beta 1 Is working for me. It is disconcerting that it's been nearly 2 months since the beta driver and there's been no update. Perhaps they are waiting for Big Sur 11.2 to be released, which I understand may have an impact on Thunderbolt devices but that's all speculative.
- UltraStudio Recorder 3G. Utility and Blackmagic driver on MacOS and Windows. Mac 10.15 Catalina orlater. Windows 8.1 and10,both 64-bit.
The Blackmagic Design UltraStudio Recorder 3G is a pocket-sized SDI and HDMI video capture device for your Thunderbolt 3 laptop or desktop video computer. The UltraStudio Recorder 3G allows users to capture or stream a video source from a camera or other SDI or HDMI source using a computer's Thunderbolt connection. I have an M1 Mac Mini with an Ultrastudio Mini Recorder connected via an Apple TB3TB2 adapter. I have tried Multiple install/uninstall passes with the Desktop Video 12 Beta 1 software driver for the M1 mini. I also have (twice) done a wipe of the boot drive and clean-installed Mac OS Big Sur 11.1 via the internet install method and follow. Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve control surface requires ad hoc operation system and it supports a CUDA Nvidia video card. To inputs and outputs video can use the DeckLink HD Extreme con support per HD-SDI 4:4:4, 10 bit on 3Gb/s single link, using 2K-SDI using 3Gb/s 4:4:4, 10 bit @ 2048x1556 @ 23.98, 24, 25fps.
HiI thought this might need an update so i booted up catalina on an intel macbook pro and was able to install the v12 beta1 software. The software/firmware was updated on the recorder.
as far as I can tell the installation was flawless.
Not so on the m1 mac mini , even after lowering security to allow extensions to be installed the hardware isn't detected.
So now i have a dongle that doesn't work for resolve or fusion and a capture card which can't capture , I'm sure my hyperdeck shuttle also doesn't work, but that's mainly changing recording formats and is fine on my macbook pro.
